Designing a solar on demand water supply from lake

The goal of this project was to eliminate my 300 gallon water tank that was being filled with my solar water pump with a small honda pump.

In July 2007 we had 22 persons at the cabin at one time, with a 50 gallon a day usage, it was time to design an on demand system before this event. Alot these people were relatives from LA who didn't know the meaning of conserving water.

The cabin is approximately 100 feet from the water with a lift of about 30 feet to the base of the cabin.

Design thoughts:

Utilize Two of our FL30 , 12 volt , 2.2 amp draw, 10 liter per minute, 17 psi pumps

The first pump was put near the shore with about a 6 foot draw from the water.

Basically consisted of pump , couple of batteries connected to solar panels

The second pump was put in the shed about 40 feet from the first pump and with a lift of about 30 feet. It was also connected to solar system.

The second pump supplied the pressure for the cabin.

The water system worked great with lots of pressure for showers, toilets and all the water needs in the cabin.

Best thing no more need to fill the water tank which seemed to always run dry in the middle of the night .

After putting this system in I wonder why I pumped water up to a tank for all those years.
